There are certain body physiological aspects that generally people are
unaware of, for example, the heart rate. These aspects can be monitored
using biofeedback equipment, machines, devices and body monitors which indicate the levels of and changes
in these physiological aspects. Biofeedback is a concept whereby, once
these physiological aspects are known, then it is easier to influence
them for beneficial purposes. Without using biofeedback equipment if
someone tries to influence their physiology they have little knowledge
of whether they are successful; using biofeedback equipment they know
whether their physiology is being influenced as desired.

When people are stressed, for whatever reason, the heart beats faster.
The concept of biofeedback and its relation to stress suggests that if
you succeed in reducing heart rate, then the negative effects of stress
can be reduced. Using devices that monitor biofeedback and indicate the
heart rate one can try and reduce this with the biofeedback equipment
indicating whether this is being done successfully. Different heart-rate
reducing techniques can be tried until the biofeedback equipment
indicates success. Some success will come by trying different
techniques, such as, proper breathing, listening to soft music, thinking
calm thoughts. With trying different heart-rate reducing techniques and
using biofeedback equipment one can establish those techniques that work
and those that do not.
A concept of biofeedback is linked to health and well-being; influencing
certain aspects of physiology then affects other aspects of the mind and
body, for example, reducing heart-rate will tend to help the mind to
become calm.
Another concept of using biofeedback and its advantages is that, once
the user of biofeedback equipment learns how to influence aspects of
their physiology, they can continue to improve their skills at this, to
master their ability as it were. With practice, influencing the
physiological aspect becomes instinctive, the subconscious mind learns
to do this, and there is no longer a need for using biofeedback
equipment to achieve results.
